The announcement at Seaworks 2026 marks a genuine engineering achievement, but it is also a dangerous distraction for British homeowners. The same hydrogen enthusiasts who championed this project are now lobbying for hydrogen boilers in UK homes. The gap between a certified ship and a viable household heating system is vast, and the clock is ticking on the 2050 net-zero target.

Why hydrogen heating is not coming to your street anytime soon
