SCOP
Seasonal Coefficient of Performance. The average COP over an entire heating season, accounting for varying outdoor temperatures.
ASHP
Air Source Heat Pump. Extracts heat from outdoor air to heat your home and hot water. Works efficiently down to minus 15 degrees Celsius.
GSHP
Ground Source Heat Pump. Extracts heat from underground via buried pipes. More efficient than ASHPs but significantly more expensive to install.
BUS Grant
Boiler Upgrade Scheme. A government grant of 7,500 pounds towards the cost of installing a heat pump, available until 2028.
Flow temperature
The temperature of water leaving the boiler or heat pump. Heat pumps work best at lower flow temperatures (35-45C) compared to boilers (60-70C).
